ISABELLE LEVY (BORN 1970) Large cube, 2024 Stoneware, enamel H: 39 x W: 21 x D: 21 cm Isabelle Levy is a Franco-Belgian ceramist born in 1970. Trained as an art historian, she became passionate about working with clay in 2010, and trained at the Académie de Céramique in Brussels. With the Composition Cubique series, she sculpts graphic forms with precise contours inspired by her taste for Purism and Abstraction. Ranging from synthetic forms to pure squares to increasingly volcanic "exploded" cubes, she explores the limits offered by the material. Her hand-crafted enamels flow more or less haphazardly over the stretched surfaces, revealing the poetry of these mysterious quadrilaterals.
