ANTOINE VANDEWOUDE - Lot 26
ANTOINE VANDEWOUDE Sang de bœuf" vase, 2023 Stoneware fired at 1280 degrees, oxblood copper glaze and black slip; brush-applied glazes. H: 76.5 cm Antoine Vandewoude is a Belgian craftsman-designer based in Antwerp. After studying graphic design, he trained as a self-taught cabinetmaker and furniture-maker. For over twenty years, he has been combining the roles of designer, producer and installer for a variety of pieces - tables, chairs, bookcases and complete interiors. A few years ago, he turned to ceramics: clay and porcelain became vehicles for a freer exploration of materials, forms and the authenticity of the object. His work transcribes a continuity between graphic design, woodworking and clay: at the heart of his approach are materiality, form, the investigation of gesture and the relationship between object and environment.
