AURÉLIE CARLIER (BORN 1970 IN LILLE, FRANCE) - Lot 9
AURÉLIE CARLIER (BORN 1970 IN LILLE, FRANCE) Totem, 2024 Stoneware, casting, enamels H: 43 x W: 32 cm Nourished by Kitsch, Rococo and Pop Culture, Aurélie Carlier reinterprets, in ceramic, the polypore mushroom, also known as Amadouvier. These perennial fungi appear on dead or weakened trees and continue to grow each year. She turns them upside down and turns them inside out. The support is autonomous, becoming an object and a work of art. Ceramics climb the walls and offer a colorful, fantastical narrative. Born in Lille in 1970. Aurélie Carlier now lives and works in Brussels. Trained as a graphic designer and photographer, she studied at the Institut Saint-Luc in Tournai, the Ateliers de la rue Voot and the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG). She discovered ceramics in 2015 in Sofi Van Saltbommel's workshop and continued her apprenticeship with Paolo Iori, Alain Losa, Françoise Cludts and Joëlle Swanet. She now shapes her world in her studio-gallery on the Sablon in Brussels. She has taken part in numerous group shows, including Finir en beauté at Maison des Arts d'Uccle (2025), L'Art pour l'Accueil at Hangar in Brussels (2024 and 2022), Bloom! Explosion végétale in Lambersart (2024), Botanique(s) plurielle(s) at the Ferme d'en Haut in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (2023), as well as presentations in Belgium and the Netherlands - notably at the École des Arts in Uccle (2019), De Moeren 1818 in Zundert (2018 and 2012), Empty Space in Brussels (2017) and at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (2015).
