PENDULE AU CHASSEUR ET SON CHIEN - Lot 168
PENDULE AU CHASSEUR ET SON CHIEN Restoration period. Signed Leclerc in Brussels The box, made in Paris, is in matte bronze, shiny and partly with an antique green patina. It is finely chased and gilded. The dial, showing the hours in Roman numerals, is set in rocks from which a waterfall flows. The subject shows a hunter holding his dog on a leash, who is quenching his thirst in the basin. Mounted on four feet, the base is adorned with hunting attributes. The original movement strikes the hours and half-hours and retains the silk-thread suspension invented by Christian Huygens in 1657. H: 45 x W: 34 x D: 14 cm Bibliography: Tardy, "La pendule francaise de Louis XVI à nos jours", Aubenas, 1974, Lienhart et compagnie, P.453
