EXPORT AND IMPORT
Any auctioned lot may be subject to export laws from the country of sale and import restrictions in other countries. Many countries require an export declaration for goods leaving their territory and/or import declaration upon arrival. Local laws may prohibit the import or resale of a lot in the buyer’s country of residence. Antenor Auction will not cancel a sale or refund a buyer if the lot cannot be exported, imported or is seized by a government authority for any reason. It is the buyer's responsibility to determine and comply with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements concerning the import or export of any lot purchased.
Before bidding, buyers should seek advice and comply with any applicable import and export regulations. If an import/export license is denied or delayed, the buyer must still pay the full amount to Antenor Auction. Upon request Antenor Auction may assist in applying for the necessary permits, but the buyer must bear all related costs. However, Antenor Auction cannot guarantee approval of these applications.

Lots containing protected species materials: Lots made from or containing (regardless of percentage) endangered and protected wildlife materials are marked with the symbol ◆ in the catalogue. These may include, but are not limited to, ivory (e.g. elephant, mammoth, walrus), tortoiseshell, crocodile and alligator skins, ostrich leather, certain corals and Brazilian rosewood.
Buyers should check customs laws before bidding if they plan to import a lot containing such materials into another country. Many countries prohibit the import of items containing protected species, while others require permits from regulatory authorities in both the exporting and importing countries. In some cases, a scientific certificate verifying the species and age may be required before shipping, which the buyer must obtain at his own expense. If a lot contains elephant ivory, or materials that resemble elephant ivory, the buyer should consult additional legal information if they plan to import the lot into the United States.
Ban on importing African elephant ivory to the US : The United States strictly prohibits the import of African elephant ivory. Any lot containing elephant ivory or similar materials (e.g. mammoth or walrus ivory) can only be imported into the United States with certified scientific test results accepted by the US Fish & Wildlife Service, confirming that the material is not African elephant ivory. If such tests have already been conducted before the sale, Antenor Auction will indicate this in the lot description. Otherwise, Antenor Auction cannot confirm the nature of the material, and the buyer assumes full risk, including the cost of testing. If tests confirm presence of African elephant ivory or similar materials, Antenor Auction will not cancel the purchase or provide a refund.
Antique jewellery export restrictions : Under current regulations, jewellery over 50 years old and worth 50.000€ or more requires an export licence. Antenor Auction can apply for this licence upon request, but approval is not guaranteed. The processing time for a jewellery export licence can take up to 8 weeks.
Watches: Many of the watches featured in this catalogue are photographed with straps made from endangered or protected species such as alligator or crocodile leather. These lots are marked with the symbol ◆ in the catalogue. These straps are not for sale and are shown only for display purposes. Antenor Auction will remove and retain the straps before shipping the watches. In some cases, Antenor Auction may, at its sole discretion, offer these straps free of charge to buyers who collect their lots in person within one year of the sale. Buyers should check with the auction house for specific details on individual lots. The import of luxury watches such as Rolex into the United States is highly restricted. These watches cannot be shipped to the United States and must be imported in person by the buyer. Generally, a buyer can only import one Rolex watch at a time into the United States. For further details, buyers should consult auction specialists.
Symbols in the catalogues: Symbols in the catalogues are provided for reference only to help buyers navigate the auction listings. However Antenor Auction is not responsible for any errors or omissions related to these symbols.
