Two softwood owls with black and greasy patina. Burma, circa 1959-1970 H: 13 and 17 cm Moulds in the shape of an owl, used to make lacquer objects in Burma. The owl is the lucky animal in the Irawadi valley. The form is purified to the extreme, a slight slit appears at the back to remove the lacquer form which will then be colored.
